Farm Description
This 5-hectare farm (12.5 acres) is at an average altitude of 1,450 meters and has around 18,250 trees.
Located in the foothills of Volcan Baru, Finca Doña Linda is in a privileged place to produce amazing specialty coffee. The combination of shade trees and microclimates from the Palmira Region creates the perfect condition to produce a smooth cup with a delicate acidity.
This farm was acquired with Catuai trees grown under the dense canopy of shade trees. Even though coffee normally grows under the canopy of trees, it is important to allow a certain degree of sunlight to promote growth and coffee production.
Therefore, in the year 2019, we started to strategically prune the canopy in order to increase light availability. As a result, we are starting to have higher production and a more uniform ripeness level.
In 2019, we also started to introduce new Catuai seedlings in order to start replacing the older trees and planting any remaining open spaces suitable for growing coffee.
Our Red Catuai from Doña Linda is recognized by its creamy and well-balanced cup with delicate acidity and floral notes.
On this farm we also built housing for the workers and their families who manage and take care of this beautiful coffee farm.
As a side note, this farm is named after our co-founder’s deceased sister, in English, “Donna Linda” Sewell
If you want to check out the farm on Google Earth, it is located in the following coordinates 8.761443, -82.471058.
